Looking for an oceanfront hotel in Ocean City, Maryland? Make your Ocean City vacation reservations at The Castle in the Sand Hotel, an Ocean City, MD oceanfront and beachfront resort. Our premiere oceanfront resort is located on the Atlantic Ocean between 37th and 38th Streets, providing our guests with a convenient location to all of the popular area attractions such as the boardwalk, rides, amusements, water parks, water sports, and golf.
The Castle in the Sand Hotel is located a short ten blocks from the north end of Ocean City's famous boardwalk. Here you can catch the boardwalk train, ride to the south end of the boardwalk and take in all that the boardwalk has to offer. Amusements and rides are located at the south end of the boardwalk, approximately 3 miles from The Castle.
Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. for hotel rooms and 4:00 p.m. for our cottages, condominiums and townhouses. If you arrive early, you may stop in at the Front Desk to register your car and pick up your parking permit and have full use of The Castle's amenities. However, to avoid a prolonged wait for your ocean city accommodations, please plan to arrive closer to the appropriate check-in time.
Parking is free and we guarantee one parking space per room. Parking is unassigned but we have a gated lot to ensure guest-only parking. The fee for the parking gate card is included in the $5.00 cash key deposit collected at check-in. However, we do offer additional parking in our auxiliary lots. Additional cars should be registered at the front desk to receive a guest pass. Please be aware that overflow parking on our auxiliary lots is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is not guaranteed.
Changing rooms are located in the lower level of the swimming pool area. An outdoor shower is located next to the restroom at the pool. These facilities are available to guests who arrive prior to their check-in time, after check-out on your departure day, as well as during your entire Castle stay.
Castle Beach Stand is located directly on the beach right in front of Castle South, just over the 37th Street dune. Beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards can be rented here. Free wireless internet access is available in all of our oceanfront buildings, as well as in The Beach House Restaurant, Coconuts Patio, and Castle South Patio.
During peak season, Coconuts beach waitresses will serve an extensive food menu and beverages during the lunch hours on the beach between the 36th and 38th Street blocks. Lunch hours are approximately 11am until 4pm. Beach service is weather permitting. Please be advised that only alcoholic beverages purchased from Coconuts Beach Bar & Grill, which are served in our signature Coconuts' logo cup, are allowed on the beach within The Castle in the Sand's service area. Beer bottles and cans are not permitted on the beach. Outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the beach. For more information on all of The Castle's food and beverage options, click here.
We offer free HBO and Disney channels through our cable television service provider. All units have a VCR or a DVD/VCR combo. There is a video library at the front desk. There is no fee for the DVD's or VHS tapes. However, you will be charged for any movies that are lost or not returned to The Castle in the Sand Hotel front desk.
Our kitchens and kitchenettes in the oceanfront buildings, condominiums, cottages and townhouses are stocked to meet your basic needs. We provide flatware, dishes, glassware and basic cookware. Please plan to bring anything extra you require or prefer to have. All kitchens and kitchenettes have stove, oven, refrigerator, toaster, microwave, and coffeemaker. Towels for washing and drying your dishes are provided. Dish soap is provided. Extras are given upon request.
Towel service is always provided in the oceanfront buildings - Castle North, Castle South, and Waverley Castle. Towels are not provided for weekly (or longer) stays in the condominiums, cottages, and townhouses. To order towel service, it is $7 per week per towel set (includes bath towel, hand towel and wash cloth). Dirty towels can be exchanged for fresh towels at the housekeeping office assigned to you at check-in. Towels will not be exchanged at the Front Desk. If you opt not to order towel service, you will need to bring towels with you. If you stay less than a week in a cottage, condo or townhouse, you will receive daily maid service and towel service. Beach and pool towels are not provided. Please plan to bring beach and pool towels with you.
Guest laundry facilities are located on the lower level of Waverley Castle at the southern end of the building. The machines are coin-operated and accept quarters only. A change machine is available in the game room in Castle North; or change can be made at the Front Desk. Coin-operated detergent dispensers are also available in the guest laundry room.
The Waverley meeting room is available upon request and reservations must be made with our Guest Services Specialist. We accommodate guest events from business meetings, to arts and crafts groups, and birthday and anniversary parties. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and Diners Club. Please note that we must have a valid credit card on file or a $300 security deposit if you choose to pay by cash, travelers check or money order. THIS POLICY IS FIRM. Without a credit card on file, you will not be permitted to charge at the restaurant or bar, rentals from Castle Beach Stand, or movies to your room. The remaining balance on a reservation is collected at check-in. At check-in we do not accept personal or business checks. If you plan to make payments by check, we must receive the check at least 10 days prior to your arrival to allow time for it to clear and process in our accounting department. Reservations must be cancelled two weeks prior to your arrival to receive a full refund.
Rebooking is not automatic. If you would like to rebook, please ask at check-out or call after your stay. We can only rebook you in the same room type, for the same time period and same length of stay. You will receive a letter in January of the following year and at that time will be able to amend your reservations. If you rebook and find you must cancel, you will still have the option to call and rebook for the following year to hold your place. Please call and speak to a reservationist. Please be advised that if you miss two years in a row, you will lose your place but we will try our best to accommodate you.
The Castle in the Sand Hotel is the closest oceanfront hotel to the Convention Center. We are 200 yards from the Roland E. Powell Convention Center. Please call for group or individual reservations if you will be attending an event at the Convention Center.
In accordance with the Maryland Clean Air Act of 2007, all of our guest rooms are now non-smoking. However, smoking is permitted outdoors at the bar, on the patios as well as on balconies.
